Powers Taylor Nominated for DTLA John Howie Award

The John Howie Award is presented each year to a DTLA member and their client for “the courageous pursuit of justice in the face of adversity.”

Being nominated for this honor reflects our commitment to fighting for our clients when it matters most — when the stakes are high, the odds are tough, and justice demands persistence.

Why we’re proud

In 2024, our team, along with Trey Allen of Allen & Nolte, undertook a trial that exemplifies exactly the kind of advocacy this award celebrates. We represented the widow of a 72-year-old man who passed away after overdosing on morphine. We stood up against a doctor at a large hospital system in DFW to ensure our client’s voice was heard and their rights were protected.

Our process included:

•  Thorough preparation and investigation, even when the path wasn’t straightforward
•  Taking on the challenge of trial after the doctor refused to settle
•  Remaining committed to our client’s goal—securing accountability, not just a check mark
