Recently, our team took a trip out to the State Fair of Texas for the 8th Annual Powers Taylor Fair Day. From scouting out the best food to knowing which rides and games to visit, Powers Taylor State Fair Group Picturewe have perfected our plan for the perfect day at the fair. Below are some of the highlights from this year’s trip.

Our first stop is always grabbing a corny dog from the Fletcher’s stand next to Big Tex. The lines were a little long, but there’s nothing better than eating a corny dog with Big Tex. We gave the corny dogs a 10 out of 10!

As soon as everyone got their corny dog, we headed to take our picture with Big Tex. It took us a few tries, but we finally got a good group picture.

Right off of the Big Tex circle we found one of the 2016 Big Tex Choice Awards finalist- the Fernie’s Down Home Chicken Pot Pie Pocket with Mac ‘n Cheese Dip. The Pot Pie Pocket was delicious! It was one of our favorite food items of the day with everyone giving the Chicken Pot Pie Pocket a 9 out of 10.

We found the Southern Fried Chicken and Dumplings at the stand next to the Pot Pie. While the dumplings were tasty, the biscuit bites really made the dish. We ended up giving the dish an 8 out of 10.

After trying those dishes, we were in the mood for some dessert. We started with a fair classic: the funnel cake. While not real creative, it is a State Fair must. Our funnel cake was a little undercooked, so we gave it a 6 out of 10.FullSizeRender[6]

While we were there, we had to try the Big Tex Choice winner for Most Creative, the Cookie Fries. This was hands down the dish everyone was most excited to try. After we ordered, we were underwhelmed with the size and presentation. Overall, the cookie fries were a little overcooked and not very tasty. It was then that remembered they won for creativity and not for taste- we gave the cookie fries a 4 out of 10.

It wouldn’t be a Powers Taylor State Fair Day without playing some carnival games. We hit the midway and played a few of the classics such as break the plate, the water gun race, and the ring toss. Our big win of the day happened on the stand up the bottle game.FullSizeRender[7]

Overall, we had a day filled with food, games, and great team bonding. Thanks to our wonderful Partners for making the day happen!
